The Alleyway Apothecary is the work of one herbalist, Ali Whitten, tending a small bench of plant medicine from a corner of Old Snowmass, Colorado.
We believe that it is our collective birthright to live, tend, and work with the plant medicine of Mother Earth. We echo her wisdom into our teas, tinctures, elixirs, flower essences, and electuaries. Plant medicine is available for humanity, as a gift from the wild, to be safely consumed for health and wellbeing.
People are storytelling creatures, and we achieve healing through the cross-cultural perspective of the hero's mythological journey. We guide you into the sacred space of your most aligned self.
Plants speak in a language older than words; listen when the ancients call.
The Practice
What we do here.
Some of what we make is for the body, the small daily acts of caring for a nervous system that lives in a noisy world. Some is for the spirit, the slower work of remembering who you are underneath the roles you have been handed.
The flower essences are bottled by hand in small batches from plants grown or wildcrafted nearby. The custom sessions are private, unhurried, and built around what is actually happening for you, not a template. The tarot readings on Thursdays and Fridays are quiet half-hours with the cards and a cup of tea.
Everything we offer is meant to meet you where you are, not where you think you should be.
The Place
Old Snowmass, Colorado.
The apothecary lives at the edge of a small mountain valley, where the road thins and the cottonwoods take over. Old Snowmass is not the Snowmass that has lifts and a ticket window. It is the older one, the one with creeks and aspens and afternoons that are quiet enough that the wind can be heard.
We do not have hours posted on the door. Visits are by inquiry, and we ask that you reach out before driving up. Most of the work happens by mail, and the products in the shop ship to wherever you are.
